Information about the Friends of Wychwood and their activities
Friends of Wychwood
The Friends of Wychwood organisation was formed in 1998 as a charity to support the Wychwood Project by welcoming members and helping to raise necessary funds. The events that we organise make it possible for all of us who are fortunate to live within the Wychwood Region to enjoy the open air facilities that the Wychwood Project creates. These include:
- woodland and heathland walks and picnics;
- days out searching for owls, studying pond life, helping to build old stone walls and hedges, clearing and coppicing woodland;
- talks by experts on dragonflies, small animals, birds, ancient maps, etc;
- our new exciting project is procurement of woodland which we are developing and making accessible to everyone.
Take a look at our `what we do' section for details of conservation work being done and the up-to-date `events' programme.
Anyone with an interest in the Wychwood Project and who supports its aims can become a Friend of the Wychwood. Local councils, businesses, schools, clubs and other organisations are also welcome to join as Group or Business members.
The Friends of Wychwood is a registered charity (number 1084259) and a company limited by guarantee.

What is involved?
Beyond supporting the Project's aim there is no requirement or commitment. Of course, many Friends will wish to do more and there are many ways to help, of which these are just a few examples:
by establishing or becoming involved in a local Wychwood Project Group or by affiliating an existing group to the Friends
by promoting the Project in your area; fund-raising, contributing to, or circulating, Project leaflets and newsletters
by encouraging your local council, school etc. in the setting up of community tree planting, general landscape enhancement or habitat creation projects
by planting or managing your own land in accordance with the aims of the Project
by contributing to Parish Conservation Plans and other local research.
