Background information about Wychwood v

Between March 2008 and March 2011 the Project and the Friends of Wychwood were successful in a a bid for funds to help more young people aged between 16 and 25 get positively involved in their community over the next three years.

The funding came from a national organisation called v and was  part of a £75 million investment across England which aimed to inspire half a million more young people to volunteer in England.

The aim of the wider programme was to create a ’step change in the quantity, quality and diversity of youth volunteering opportunities’. One of the key requirements of v was that the young people who took the part of volunteers had a say in deciding upon and developing the opportunities that they take up.

The Project has done quite a bit of work with children but relatively little with the target 16 – 25 year age group.

Even though the funding has now ended for this programme if you are are aged 16 – 25 and you like the idea of volunteering with the Wychwood Project, then please contact the office on 01865 - 815423.
